Quality and Environment

ISO9001 Initiatives

Our initiatives for ISO9001 started when Japanese economy faced rapid bankrupcies and downturns due to the bust of financial system and banks' disposal of bad loans.
Our acquisition of ISO9001 (which was called ISO9002 at that time) coincides with our 50 years anniversary and "Quality Control Room" was established in our organization. It means it was the time that we started our quality control initiatives, considering it as a platform to increase our competitiveness and operation effectiveness.

Starting from February 1996, we worked hard to review our overall company system and finally certified according to ISO9001 Quality Control System in November 1996.

Our quality control system aims to maintain and improve our logistics services to our valued customers, but in order to accomplish this aim we needed to improve our internal operation procedures so that our services can satisfy our customer's needs.

We originally planned to work for ISO9001 certification covering Tokyo head office only, but later it was extended to cover other business sectors as a whole certification scope. Our certification is renewed for 4 times already. Our 14 years initiatives of establishing original quality control system is now making good effect on the increase of our employees' quality and understanding, as well as the effectiveness of our operations.

We keep working everyday to fulfill our Quality Policy "Contribute to the society by offering qualified logistics plan which satisfies our valued customers' needs", and we believe our quality control system will be one of a driving power to become more capable company.

ISO14001 Initiatives

Global warming is highly publicized by media almost every day. Based on the Kyoto Protocol adopted at the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in December 1997, the target for reduced CO2 and other greenhouse gasses emissions by 2012 was set but it is not moving forward smoothly so far due to US and other major countries not ratifying the Protocol.

Japanese government is particularly working hard to this issue by setting very high target of 25% reduction of CO2 emission compared to 1990s by 2020, together with special monetary support to the developing countries. Under such circumstances, "environment" is one of a fundamental issue and needed budget to carry on the business development.

We started our initiatives of ISO14001 certification in April 2009 in order to contribute to the environmental load reduction and to promote more environmental friendly business activities. Now we are working for the certification in the head office, which will be extended later to cover other domestic business offices and business sectors.

Green Management Certification, Excellent Standards for Safety (G-Mark certification) and Transportation Safety Management

Green Management

It is a so called brief Japanese version of ISO14001 and we have acquired the Green Management Certification since 2005 for our road transportation sector in 11 business points. We carry out our business with ecology in mind and are trying everyday to reduce environmental load by making many approaches, such as CO2 emission reduction, stoping vehicle idling, checking tires' air pressure and other parts condition.

Excellent Standards for Safety (G-Mark certification)

Some of you may have seen a green big sticker marked "G" in the back or driver's door of vehicles. This is a sticker from G-Mark certification system run by Japan Trucking Association and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism since 2003. This system aims to support shippers and consumers to select safe and reliable trucking companies, and also to encourage trucking companies to enhance their safety awareness. They evaluate the trucking companies' safety level in their operation and issue the G-Mark certification to the company with the excellent standards for safety. We are certified with G-Mark in our 11 business points.

Transportation Safety Management

This system regarding Transport Safety Management has started in October 2007 in the wake of derailment accident in JR Fukuchiyama Line in 2006 and other air, marine and car accidents caused by human errors. It aims to improve the transport safety in such business fields.

We started our approach to Transport Safety Management since 2008 at 8 road transportation business points and 3 logistics centers handling road transportation.
